Mrs. William Brown Meloney

230 West 41st Street

New York, New York

My dear friend:

You may have wondered why I did not get in touch with you for such a long time, but many things happened in my life, some good things and some critical ones. After I came back from California I wrote a new play. Then I left suddenly for Europe. My private relations became rather difficult. Mrs. Toller and I separated. So that is all about that.

I think you may have read in the papers what I am doing at the moment. I want so much to have you know the details, and therefore I am enclosing the memorandum concerning the plan to feed the Spanish civil population. I think it will interest you.

Sincerely yours,

Ernst Toller.
