Dear Mr. Reynolds,
Thank you so much for your letter from March 7th which reached me in New York. My heartiest congratulations to your marriage to Ethel Mannin, who is a dear friend of mine.
I give willingly my permission to print the passages of LETTERS FROM PRISON which you have chosen to include in your new book. In case that the publisher pays a fee for it, please tell him he may send the money to my account at BARCLAYS BANK, 27, Regent Street, London S. W. 1.
The task which you overtook sounds very interesting.
The letters from prison by MAX HOELZ have been printed in Germany before Hitler came to power. (MALIK-VERLAG, BERLIN). I am sure you will find a copy in the British Library. Several books by Erich Mühsam have also been published in Germany. In case you cannot get hold of them, I am sending you the address of his wife who lives now in Moscow. Address: ZENZL MÜHSAM, ul. I am sure she will be glad to send you the MSS you need. I do not know the address of Daudistel, but I don’t think it is worth troubling about it.
Do you know the details of the death of Erich Mühsam? He has been murdered by the Nazis in a Concentration-camp. He showed a really heroic attitude. In case you do not know the circumstances under which he died I shall send you the neccessary informations.
