Barrett H. Clark, Esq.,

Executive Director

Dramatists Play Service

6 East 39th Street

New York, N. Y.,

Dear Barrett Clark: –

Ben Irwin of the New Theatre League wrote me a letter, copy of which I enclose, in which he asked me to sign an agreement with him whereby the New Theatre League would represent exclusively the rights to my chorus work “Worldly Requiem”. This chorus work cannot be classified among the category of my works which the Dramatists Play Service represents. Therefore I am willing to authorize Ben Irwin but I should prefer that the agreement be signed by you and all the royalties be remitted to the Play Service. As you will see from the enclosed copy I have written Irwin accordingly. I hope that this meets with your approval.

Has the Theatre Guild matter been straightened out?

How are you, dear Barrett?

Possibly I shall see you soon in New York.

With kindest regards and all good wishes,

Yours ever,

Ernst Toller.
