New York.
Dear Barrett Clark: –
Confirming our telephone conversation of this morning I am sending you herewith copies of the correspondence I mentioned at that time.
I have also found among my correspondence the two enclosed communications which will undoubtedly be of interest to you. Gordon Harbord was my representative for a short time . When I by accident read of the production of “Masses and Men” in an American newspaper, I asked Gordon Harbord to send their American representative to the Theatre Guild. I did not authorize Miss Ethel Taylor, Gordon Harbord’s American representative to take any further steps in the matter, because I had heard meanwhile that the Theatre Guild had released more than one performance and I wanted to clear the situation up during my sojourn in this country.
Ever yours,
Ernst Toller.
