Dear Missy,
I was so very sorry to hear from your secretary about your illness, which confines you to the hospital. In spite of the nurse’s reassurance over the telephone this morning that you are getting on well I am still uneasy and I should be very grateful, if your nurse would have the kindness to drop me a line from time to time, advising me of your condition. I am leaving New York on Tuesday and shall not return before the 9th of December.
I was so very happy at the prospect of seeing you in New York again and I regret deeply, that our meeting must be postponed.
With all good and hearty wishes for your recovery
Yours ever
Ernst Toller.
