Dear Mr. Darnton,
I was so awfully sorry, that I have missed you. It was rather a misunderstanding, because I thought you would come at 1230.
My agent rung me up and I had to go immediately to him. So I rang you up to ask you to come half an hour later. But unfortunately you had left the house.
So I tried my best to be back, as quickly as possible, I took a taxi but when I came you had gone.
Please do excuse. I had hoped so much to see you. Not only on behalf of the puppet-play. I also would have liked to talk to you about a chorus-work for which I have written the words.
When will you be back in London? Please let me know.
