Dear Mrs. Kessel,
I was very glad to hear from you. I still remember very well our evening at Wickham Steed’s. Also, how sorry I was not to have been able to come to the ship.
I read your article with the greatest interest. It is an excellent and instructive work.
Meanwhile, “Eine Jugend in Deutschland” has been published in America under the title of “I was a German”. I wonder if you have seen it? It is long ago that I asked my publisher in Holland to send you a copy, and I am surprised that you have not got it.
Perhaps I shall come to New York during the winter. It would be very nice to see you again.
