Mr Henry Seidel Canby,

Standish Hall,

45 West 81st Street, New York.

My dear Mr. Canby:

I thank you for trying to help Professor Emilio Mira. I enclose a letter from him. Professor Mira is an outstanding, internationally known psychiatrist and psychologist, who some years ago was invited by the University of Chicago as guest lecturer. He is also a distinguished scientific writer.

I have seen his work in Barcelona, where he was in charge of all the Military Hospitals for Nervous Diseases, and also Director of the Psycho-Technical Institute. I have seen one of his clinics, and have watched with profound admiration how this man has treated the Fascist prisoners and the Loyalist soldiers with the same kindness and humanity. –

José Bergamin’s address is Co, “La Voz de Madrid”, rue Monholon, Paris, 90.

With all good wishes, sincerely,

Ernst Toller.
