Dear Mr. Howe:
Here is the new final scene and also a small addition which belongs to the third scene of the second act. I feel that this final scene was necessary and strenghtens the play. The collapse of Pastor Hall in the scene as it stood before was an incident but not a necessity. This man could not die at this moment. He had a task before him.
I hope Spender will like this scene and will forgive me for making extra work for him.
When will the book be out?
With kind regards and good wishes,
Yours sincerely,
Ernst Toller
